Die additiv von Castillo-Morales zu der Orofaziellen Regulationstherapie eingeführte Stimulationsplatte hat u.a. auch wegen technischer Unzulänglichkeiten im klinischen Alltag häufig nicht alle Erwartungen erfüllt. Mit weiterentwickelten, weichen oralen Stimulationsplatten (OSP) werden nun im Universitätsklinikum Hamburg-Eppendorf und am ISST in Unna bei Kindern mit Down-Syndrom sehr positive Erfahrungen gemacht.
Einleitung
Obwohl in der Fachliteratur der Orofaziellen Regulationstherapie mit oralen Stimulationplatten bei Kndern mit Trisomie 21 in den achtziger und neunziger Jahre erhebliche Beachtung geschenkt wurde und zahlreiche Untersuchungen ihre Effektivität belegten, liegen aktuell wenig Hinweise auf weiterreichende Forschungsaktivitäten vor. zudem erfuhr die Behandlungsmethode im klinischen Alltag auch viele negative Kritiken. Bei genauer Betrachtung blieb vor allem die Qualität des Stimulationsgerätes als die enscheidende Grundlage für einen erfolgreichen Therapieverlauf unbeachtet.
