Pulling Exercise in Varying Directions
Goal
Applications
- Paralysis of the face, lips and tongue
- One-sided facial paralysis (pull to the healthy side)
- Centering of the lower jaw when swallowing
Exercise Routine
Place the FaceFormer as described under Fundamentals – Starting position.
Take the relaxed basic posture.
- Press the lip wedge together firmly with your lips for 6 seconds.
Meanwhile pull the lip wedge with your thumb and index finger sidewards to the left, right or diagonally.
Press your lips together and pull to the left, right or diagonally
- Maintain lip tension. Bite down once with the molars and swallow once at the same time. Maintain the position of the tip of the tongue.
Hold the lip tension, bite once and swallow
- Relaxation phase: Release lip pressure for 6 seconds.
Lips enclose lip wedge without pressure.
Teeth do not touch, but are not far apart.
Maintain the position of the tip of the tongue.
Relax lips, maintain tongue position
Repetitions
Repeat the exercise as indicated.
