Question
My family doctor would like me to wear a sleep mask (CPAP mask) at night. We have now agreed that we will discuss whether or not I should wear a mask until my next appointment at the end of October. Until then I have time with the FaceFormer. Will I have had any success by then because of the sleep apnoea? What experience do you have with sleep apnoea? Which is better, the FaceFormer or the CPAP mask?
Answer
The success of FaceFormer therapy for sleep apnoea (nocturnal breathing pauses) is very good. Countless patients have been able to positively influence their problem with the therapy. Your family doctor will usually send you to a sleep laboratory. The results of the measurement are a prerequisite for the prescription of a sleep mask (CPAP device). For most patients, the results in the sleep lab are sufficient to get the costs covered by the health insurance.
However, keep in mind that you will have to use a device every night for the rest of your life and develop a dependency on it. We advise you: Train intensively, regularly and exactly as instructed with the FaceFormer and perhaps postpone the consultation for another 4 weeks. Within 2 to 3 months you should see a clear change.
