We all know how good training is for us and how satisfied we are to have kept it up. So it would be so easy to do something good for us if it wasn’t for the inner bastard. Because we know that, that’s why we want to give you very concrete and practical tips for training and increased motivation.

Dear Mrs Berndsen,

We, the Wiegand family, would like to thank you once again for your commitment and your great help.

The FaceFormer training helps Max and Maja a lot, as well as myself against my snoring by the way. Since we have managed to integrate the training into our everyday life and we do our exercises regularly, Max has hardly any ear problems and Maja’s jaw pains are as good as gone. My wife can now sleep undisturbed again, as I rarely bother her with my snoring anymore.

Since we often had the topic of motivation during the therapies, I thought you might be interested to know how we solved this. Your tip to quietly reduce the training to twice a day was the decisive factor, because the children (and honestly, I too) could accept this much easier.

I made an agreement with my children and introduced a reward system that has worked very well so far:
We have been practicing together for almost 7 weeks, always in the morning before school and in the evening after dinner. For this we stand together in the hallway in front of our big mirror. I set the 6-second rhythm by counting my fingers and record the number of exercises with the hand counter.

We note the training units including the nightly application in the calendar. If the children have trained regularly for a week, you can choose a movie from an online video streaming service at the weekend. Each successful month is rewarded with a visit to the cinema. Now, when we have the two months full in just under two weeks, we will go to a climbing park together. And for the final goal, after six months, I have promised to come up with something very special. Of course I reward myself in a similar way, for example every Sunday with a thick piece of cake. At the end of the six months we will probably have a short holiday, because now I don’t bother anybody anymore if we all share a hotel room.

Body posture during training.

  • At the beginning it is best to train standing in front of a mirror to control your head and body posture.
  • Training in a sitting position: Sit on the front part of the chair without leaning. Both feet have contact with the floor. The knees are angled 90 degrees and the head is upright – only by stretching the neck.
  • Check the tongue tip position at the beginning as often as possible in front of the mirror. With the mouth wide open, observe whether the tip of the tongue is in the correct position.

Exhausting exercises

For some users, the exercises are very exhausting when they first start training.

  • Reduce the exercise program from 3 times to 2 times daily. However, maintain this consistently!
  • Or train 3 times a day and do 10 repetitions instead of 20. But keep this consistently!

Difficulties with the exercise process

  • Use our hand tally counter to check the number of practice repetitions.
    observe whether the tip of the tongue is in the correct position.
  • Count 6 seconds with the spoken numbers 21…, 22…, 23…, 24…, 25…, 26… on your hand (stretch out one finger at a time – 6 seconds, 6 fingers)
  • Practice with the FacFormer app. The smartphone app is available free of charge for Android and iOS smartphones.

Regularity is important!

  • Define fixed times of day for the training:
    • Before or after every tooth brushing
    • Directly after getting up or going to bed
    • Before or after meals
    • On the way to the office, in the car
    • For housework, gardening, cooking etc.
    • During sports
    • Reading, watching TV, listening to music
    • Simply keep the FaceFormer in your mouth in between times

A positive attitude towards FaceFormer therapy will help you! Look forward to the exercises, because it’s fun to take the initiative to improve your performance, get healthy and stay healthy.

FaceFormer therapy is a successful neurophysiological method. The prerequisite for success is constant use according to the exercise instructions.

The basic postures and exercises described do not usually work right from the start. Use them as a guide. Do them as well as you can. It will gradually get better!

Success does not happen overnight, but depends on the “level of training”.

FaceFormer therapy is not finished even if the stressful symptoms disappear. Relapses can only be ruled out when the trained biological functions automatically adjust correctly, even during sleep.

The goal is achieved when the results are stable and the structures, which have often been damaged for many years, have recovered and adapted.

Motivating suggestions

Here are some suggestions and ideas about a step-by-step reward to keep motivation up, especially good with children.

  • In any case use the calendar and make regular entries
  • Set step-by-step milestones e.g. every week, every month, possibly every 2nd month and after 6 months and reward them each time (remember your interests, preferences and hobbies)
    • After each week of training (documented by entry in the calendar) you receive something or something special is done or allowed:
      • watch a movie
      • additional time to play together
      • stay up late once a week
      • additional time on mobile phone, computer or game console
      • receipt of a book, magazine, comic, CD, DVD
      • collectibles such as playing cards, stickers, collector’s figures, crown caps, stamps
    • After each month of training (documented by entry in the calendar) something special will be done:
      • Visit to the cinema, zoo, planetarium, leisure park
      • Ice skating, going swimming, climbing hall or climbing forest
      • going out for pizza, burgers, ice cream, etc.
      • buying clothes, Lego, Playmobil, accessories for a hobby etc.
    • After 6 months consider something unusual as a reward:
      • Possibly a larger purchase, which was already planned anyway, such as a new bicycle, instrument, mobile phone, tablet, computer
      • Generally greater freedom, such as staying up longer, staying out longer, longer periods for mobile phone, computer and so on
        increase in pocket money
      • Joining an association or club
      • A Shopping Tour
      • A major excursion or a weekend holiday

What works well for children, naturally also works for adults. Just think of things that would make you happy and try to spread them over the exercise period as a reward.
